About the Role
Haugesund International School is an English-speaking International Baccalaureate World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Grades 1–5 and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Grades 6–10. The school follows an inquiry-based, student-centred approach that promotes academic, social, physical, emotional and cultural development.
The IB Curriculum Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences while supporting students in developing the skills, knowledge and attitudes outlined in the IB Learner Profile.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the relevant IB programme and subject framework.
- Develop inquiry-based and student-centred learning experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking and independent learning.
- Create meaningful connections between different areas of learning and real-world contexts.
- Differentiate instruction to meet students' individual learning needs, abilities and interests.
- Promote international-mindedness, intercultural understanding and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Assess and monitor students' academic progress using appropriate formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and provide constructive feedback.
- Encourage students to develop communication, research, collaboration, self-management and thinking skills.
- Create a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Support students' academic, social and emotional development.
- Collaborate with other teachers and coordinators in planning interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and development.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events and other activities.
- Contribute positively to the school's international and multicultural community.
- Follow the school's policies, safeguarding procedures and professional standards.
